2026 Conference Travel and Accommodation

The 2026 ICGRN conference takes place at UCD, Belfield, Co Dublin. Further details about rooms for the conference will be communicated to all participants with the programme. Click here to see UCD on Google Maps.

Accommodation at UCD

We have liaised with UCD Accommodation to arrange a discounted rate for on-campus accommodation for our conference delegates. The accommodation is located just a few minutes’ walk from our on-campus venue.

There are two types of accommodation available. UCD offers 1) single ensuite bedrooms, which are located in shared apartments (shared between 4-14 people), each bedroom having its own private ensuite bathroom and access to a shared common area within the apartment, or 2) a fully private ensuite studio, with either a double bed or 2 single beds with an ensuite bathroom and small kitchenette. The studio can accommodate up to two people.

Linen and towels will be provided, along with basic toiletries. FAQs can be found here. Breakfast is not included in this rate, but the Food Hall at UCD will be open from 8am and delegates will find a range of food options there.

The discounted rate is available for reservations staying between 10th and 15th June 2026, with an early bird offer of 20% off for reservations made before 1st May 2026. Reservations made after 1st May 2026 will have a discount of 10%.

To make your reservations, please visit https://www.ucdsummer.ie/, select your arrival and departure dates, and add the code provided in our email of 5th February to apply the discount. You can then select your type of reservation and your room type. If you have any difficulties with this, please don’t hesitate to write to us.

Accommodation in Dublin

We appreciate that not everyone may like to stay in on-campus accommodation, and we can recommend Staunton’s Hotel, the Mespil and the Albany on Harcourt Street in Dublin City Centre. Delegates will be able to take the E1, E2 or 39A to UCD from the city centre – more on this below. We recommend that all delegates use Google Maps or similar to check their journey times from their chosen hotel to UCD before they book, as this may significantly influence your decision.

Getting to UCD

UCD’s Belfield campus is located in Booterstown, in the greater Stillorgan area. Delegates flying to Dublin Airport can take the Aircoach Route 700 from the airport to UCD, and further on again to Dublin City Centre – click here to view the route map / timetable. This same route will get you back to the airport from UCD after the conference. Tickets can be bought on the bus on the day using debit cards or Apple/Google Pay, and they can also be bought in advance (which we do recommend). More information is available on the Aircoach website.

For transport to/from the city centre and UCD (not involving the airport), delegates can take any of the following bus routes: E1, E2, 39A. These all go from the city centre stops on Nassau Street (Stop 406) or Kildare Street, with route directions to UCD as follows: E1 to Ballywaltrim, E2 to Dun Laoghaire, 39A to UCD. We recommend that passengers on the E1 and E2 buses alight at Stop 2007, Woodbine Road, Booterstown. UCD campus is just across the road from here. We recommend that passengers on the 39A alight at Stop 763, Belfield Court; UCD campus is just across the road. Should you miss this stop, do not worry; the 39A terminus is a stop inside UCD campus, so you can’t get lost either way.

Travelling back to the city centre from UCD is equally straightforward: the E1 (dir. Northwood), E2 (dir. Harristown) and 39A (dir. Ongar) all pass by a bus stop right in front of UCD campus, called Stop 768, UCD Stillorgan Road. Any one of these buses will take you back to the city centre, where we recommend you alight on Dawson Street (E1, E2, 39A) or O’Connell Street (E1, E2, not 39A), depending on the location of your hotel.

Leap Cards

Using the bus in Dublin can be done by paying for your ticket in cash, but you need to have exact change in euro (or be happy not to get change back). This is not convenient for many travellers and so we recommend that our delegates avail themselves of a Leap Card, a reusable travel card which can be topped up with travel credit using the Leap Top-Up app (available for iPhone and Android). You can purchase a Leap Card in Spar and Centra (convenience supermarkets), Easons (a bookshop with stores on Nassau Street and O’Connell Street) or from newsagents in Pearse and Connolly train stations – anywhere that you see the TFI Leap frog logo. A TFI Visitor Leap Card is also available, with different fare options, but please note this can only be bough in specific locations in the city centre / the airport. We have linked in this section the TFI Leap Card website for your convenience.
